| Yesterday was the "post wedding bridal shower" that the ladies of my church out together for me. It was very nice. The house of the woman who hosted it is beautiful. A lot of ladies from the church were there, along with a couple people from my old church that I keep in touch with, my mom, my aunt andra, and my grandma. One girl, Amelia, helped plan, set up and host the party. She and her husband are a little younger than us, but they are very cool, so we might finally be making some friends!! I had some time to bond with her a little, and mike went bowling with her husband, ian, so they got some guy time in too. Which is good.Very cool to finally have christian friends again that are our age. Don't get me wrong, I love hanging out with the older people, but there are just somethings you don't usually suggest doing with older people, because they just won't understand. Anyways, the bridal shower was great. the food was so good, including homemade ice tea with fresh mint, and two kinds of homemade cheesecake. And the presents were really great. cookbooks, bamboo cutting boards and a bamboo steamer, wall decor, towels galore, a really nice corningware casserole dish set, and so much more stuff. It really was a blessing, because some of those things, I kept turning around going "we really could use some new towels, or glasses, or a casserole dish, but we really shouldn't be spending money on stuff unless it is really important". And then today our church voted on merging with another church in the area that we have been praying about merging with. the vote was a unanimous Yes!, which i think is VERY exciting. I adore our old church building, but It just doesn't make sense to stay, economically speaking. and i think it will be exciting to blend our churches together. a very interesting proposition. So, we had the last church picnic as United Baptist Church, and will be entering a transition period immediately. we will have a new name, new constitution, and new doctrinal statement, decided on by both church bodies. very exciting. |
